Get Back into Balance

Treat Your Body Right

Our goal at Ology has always been to raise awareness about the science and the astounding benefits of this oil so that we can help people get back to homeostasis. Sometimes your body needs a little extra help on its journey to balance, and that’s where Hemp CBD comes in. But how does this work exactly? By binding to receptor sites that are a part of your Endocannabinoid System, of course!

Your Endocannabinoid System

Generally we are taught about 11 systems of the human body such as the digestive, nervous, circulatory systems, and so forth. But there is also another one called the endocannabinoid system, which has cannabinoid receptors. CBD stands for cannabidiol and hemp is rich in them. The CB 1 and CB 2 cannabinoid receptors in the body bind with the molecules of CBD and produce positive biological responses, namely bringing about homeostasis (balance) in all the other body systems. Yay for balance!

Full Spectrum CBD Oil

How Nature Intended

Grown with the utmost care in organic hemp fields in Kentucky, Ology’s Cherry hemp strain is undeniably rich in CBD. The ratio of CBD to THC is 25:1, and each mL of our full spectrum oil contains 33.3 mg of CBD. Our full spectrum oils have a full cannabinoid profile without the excess chlorophyll and waxes often found in CBD oil.

Supercritical CO2 Extraction

All Natural & Solvent Free

We use a supercritical CO2 extraction process to create our a hemp CBD mud which is then vacuum distilled to make Ology Essential’s Hemp CBD Oil. This method leaves our oil free of solvents like butane, isopropyl alcohol, pentane, hexane or ethanol. Using supercritical CO2 extraction preserves the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids of the hemp. It is a more expensive method of extraction, but you are worth the full spectrum, cannabinoid rich finished product.

FAQ

How does Hemp CBD work?

CBD Oil contains cannabidiol, which interacts with the endocannabinoid (ECS) system. The ECS is made up of millions of cannabidnoid receptor sites. There are CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain, connective tissue, central nervous system, organs, gonads, and glands. The CB2 receptors are mostly found in the immune system, and can also be present in the liver, heart, kidneys, spleen, bones, blood vessels, lymph cells, reproductive organs and the endocrine glands. The human body always seeks to maintain homeostasis, or more easily states as balancing bodily functions. The average American diet has not contained cannabinoids, until recently with the rise of Hemp CBD oil, which contains cannabidiol as well as over 85 other cannabinoids.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

Generally we are taught about 11 systems of the human body such as the digestive, nervous, circulatory systems, and so forth. But there is also another one called the endocannabinoid system, which has cannabinoid receptors. CBD stands for cannabidiol and hemp is rich in them. The CB 1 and CB 2 cannabinoid receptors in the body bind with the molecules of CBD and produce positive biological responses, namely bringing about homeostasis (balance) in all the other body systems. The plant genus Cannabis is the only source, outside the human body, that produces cannabinoids. The endocannabinoid (ECS) system is made up of millions of cannabidnoid receptor sites, which are mostly found in the brain, central nervous system and immune system. Each body system seeks to maintain homeostasis within that given system. The endocannabinoid system seeks to maintain homeostasis in all systems of the body.

“Homeostasis, from the Greek words for “same” and “steady,” refers to any process that living things use to actively maintain fairly stable conditions necessary for survival.” Emeritus Professor Kelvin Rodolfo

The endocannabinoid system maintains that by seeking to correct anything that gets out of balance including mood, sleep, hormones, fertility, memory, energy, anxiety, immune response, appetite, pain and more. The average American diet has not contained cannabinoids, until recently with the rise of Hemp CBD oil. CBD Oil contains cannabidiol as well as over 85 other cannabinoids.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana are different varietals of the plant species Cannabis. One could say they are relatives, but scientifically polar opposites. By the legal definition hemp contains a trace level of THC (0.3% or less) and a high level of CBD, marijuana has low CBD and high THC. You can get high on marijuana, and you can’t get high on hemp. Period.

“The core agricultural differences between medical cannabis and hemp are largely in their genetic parentage and cultivation environment,” Leaf Science. Hemp and marijuana are scientifically divergent and are cultivated in different ways. The legal definition of hemp is a plant with low THC and high CBD. Hemp has completely different functions and applications than marijuana. For industrial hemp the seeds, hurd, and fiber are harvested. For marijuana the flowering tops of the female plant, which are the source of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), are harvested. Hemp is an agricultural crop often referred to as industrial hemp. Marijuana is a horticultural crop. Every part of the hemp plant has a use and potential market.

The oilseed of hemp is used in the cosmetic, soap, nutritional supplement, food industries due to the fatty acid profile and proteins in the oil. Hemp oil has a high percentage and a desirable balance of the essential fatty acids, Omega-3 and Omega-6. The fiber and cellulose from hemp stalks is used in the textiles, fuel and building industries. Hemp seed oil also has many household, industrial, and technical uses (Rothenberg).

Hemp oilseed meal is used in animal feed and protein flours and powders. The hulled hemp seed is used in the food industry. The hemp stalk contains blast fibers and inner core. The blast fiber is one of the strongest plant fiber that makes it a durable fiber for apparel, luggage, footwear and other textiles. Hemp blast fiber is used in the production of biocomposites for household products, insulation, paper, packaging, flooring, hempcrete, mulch and so forth can be used to replace plastics, fiberglass and wood. The hemp inner core of the stalk is used for animal bedding, and as a chemical absorbent that can be used after environmental spills, and can be used in farming and gardening. The whole hemp stalk can be used for biomass fuel (Rothenberg).

Hemp is the ultimate ‘green’ product because it is renewable, many products made with it are biodegradable, and can be used to replace our dependence on non-renewable resources. The annual crop is great for farmers as a low impact crop. Erik Rothenberg wrote, “These renewable resources will transition our major industries away from depending on non-renewable, fast-disappearing resource bases to being driven and supported on a sustainable economic basis by the annual agri-
industrial produce of the Earth’s fertile fields.”

There are dozens of varieties of poppy flowers. The Papaver somniferum includes the variety of poppies known as the red scarlet, which produces opiates. The non-opium varieties of Papaver somniferum are completely legal to grown in your backyard. This despite the fact that the trace opiate level in the poppy seeds that you buy at the grocery store to bake is actually higher than the trace THC level in hemp. Imagine if all poppy flowers had been banned because of the red scarlet variety. There would be no lemon poppy seed muffins!

A case of mistaken identity for the hemp plant can be traced back to the early 1900’s. It is time that we all join the 21st century and recognize that hemp and marijuana are not the same.

Is Hemp CBD Oil Legal?

We can only speak to the legality of our own Hemp CBD Oil, because we cannot monitor whether other states or labs are operating in compliance to federal guidelines. Ology Hemp CBD Oil is produced in Kentucky under a federally approved program authorized under Section 7606 of the 2014 Farm Bill. CBD Oil sourced from hemp (not marijuana) is legal when sold as a dietary supplement. Some states do not allow stores to sell Hemp CBD Oil, but they do allow possession of up to 20 ounces. This is a big reason why consumers are turning to mail order Hemp CBD Oil.

Does Ology Essentials use solvents to extract our CBD from hemp?

No. We do not use solvents such as butane, isopropyl alcohol, pentane, hexane or ethanol to extract our CBD from the hemp plant. Solvents are considered processing aids and are not added to the label. We use a supercritical CO2 extraction process to create our a hemp CBD mud which is then vacuum distilled to make Ology Essential’s Hemp CBD Oil. This method leaves us with a solvent free, all-natural, full spectrum hemp CBD which is also alcohol free, vegan, non-GMO and gluten free. Using supercritical CO2 extraction preserves the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids of the hemp. It is a more expensive method of extraction, but you are worth the full spectrum, cannabinoid rich finished product.

Why does Ology Essentials use fractionated coconut oil?

Ology Essentials uses fractionated coconut oil (MTC) for our Hemp CBD extract for many reasons. The most important reasons are that MTC has an indefinite shelf life, has a palatable flavor profile, and is a great source of medium-chain triglycerides. While we love all things hemp, we chose not to use hemp seed oil in our hemp CBD products because the shelf life would be 3-6 months refrigerated from the time that we manufacture with it. We don’t want to take a moment away from the shelf life of any product that you purchase from Ology Essentials. We chose not to use alcohol so that consumers of any age group, background and history could safely use any of our products. Also the use of fats improves absorption and bioavailability.

What is the ratio of CBD to THC in Ology Essentials Hemp CBD strain?

The ratio of CBD to THC in the Cherry strain used by Ology Essentials is 25:1. According to Herb’s list of high-CBD strains the most common ratios of CBD to THC in popular brands are: Charlotte’s Web (20:1), ACDC (20:1), Harle-Tsu (20:1), Harlequin (5:2), Cannatonic (3:1), CBD Critical Cure (2:1), Sour Tsunami (1:1), One to One (1:1), and Canna-Tsu (1:1) [Herb, Everything You Need to Know About CBD Strains and Extracts.]

What is the species of cannabis that Ology Essentials uses?

Cannabis sativa.

Where is the hemp grown for Ology Essentials products?

This is vital because cannabis is a hyperaccumulator which means that it easily absorbs contaminants from the soil. Hemp will clean up the environment around it, so it is vital that our hemp is grown in organic soil with absolutely no pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, herbicides, or other contaminates. Our products are grown in Kentucky under the federally approved program authorized under Section 7606 and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Can you have a positive THC test if you take hemp CBD?

Due to the nature of full spectrum hemp products, there is a chance that consumption could trigger a false positive drug test. For that reason we recommend our THC free products for anyone who is drug tested for any reason.

Does your Hemp CBD taste like mud and dirt?

Our Hemp CBD Oils is actually quite pleasant tasting. Even the unflavored version is something most people can tolerate. We are big fans of the mint flavor, but we sell equally as much unflavored as we do the mint.

Are your products certified organic?

The fields that we grow are hemp are organic, pesticide free, non-GMO, herbicide free, fungicide free, do not contain heavy metals or any other contaminates. All products are manufactured in a FDA registered food safety certified facility which operates under strict current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP.) Our finished products, however, are not organically certified.

How does CBD work when used topically?

It is believed that Hemp CBD works faster for localized issues when used topically because the CBD goes directly to the CB1 and CB2 cannabidnoid receptor sites in the specific area that it is applied without going through the digestive system. In a study done at the University of Kentucky transdermal CBD significantly reduced joint swelling, improved mobility and reduced pain for rats with arthritis. The scientific community is still catching up to research on the effectiveness of transdermal Hemp CBD. Antidotal results have been impressive.

What is the best way to take Hemp CBD?

Sublingual application allows for the CBD oil to be absorbed quickly and directly through the mucous membrane in the mouth, which contains capillaries that lead directly to the bloodstream. Absorption under the tongue allows Hemp CBD to bypass the digestive system. Hold the Hemp CBD under your tongue for 20-90 seconds. Many reports show that sublingual usage increases the bioavailability.

Ingestion is another popular method of taking Hemp CBD. This can be through capsules or in your coffee, juice and other edibles. This allows the CBD to pass through the digestive system and become metabolized by the liver. Chris Kilham, the founder of Medicine Hunter Inc., suggests consuming fats such as oils, nuts or yogurt to improve absorption and bioavailability. Topical allows the CBD to be absorbed into the skin where it interacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors near the surface of the skin.

Vaping CBD is a common method for quick absorption, however most vape juices contain propylene glycol and other chemicals. Some vaporizing models are compatible with Hemp CBD in fractionated coconut oil. Check the vaporizers manufacturer to determine if it is safe for use with fractionated coconut oil. The voltage must be 3.9V or lower.

Does TSA allow Hemp CBD?

According to TSA, “Possession of marijuana and cannabis infused products, such as Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, is illegal under federal law. TSA officers are required to report any suspected violations of law, including possession of marijuana and cannabis infused products.”

Can I buy Ology Essentials from any state?

Yes. We ship to all 50 states.

Can I buy Ology Essentials from any country?

No. Many countries have specific laws that you must follow in order for us to import into their country. For that reason we chose not to risk losing the products in customs.

When comparing prices with various brands what should I be looking for?

With the high prices of Hemp CBD you want to be sure that you are comparing apples to apples, or more specifically mg/mL to mg/mL. You might find a Hemp CBD product that appears to be half the price of others. Often that is because it contains half or even less than half of the milligrams of Hemp CBD in a milliliter. For instance, if you are looking at Ology Essential’s Hemp CBD Oil 1000 mg/30 mL make sure that you are looking at another brands 1000 mg/30 mL to compare. You will find that 500 mg/30 mL and 250 mg/30 mL is much less expensive. That is because it is half or one quarter the percentage of CBD.

Is Cannabis an Adaptogen?

Officially, no. Technically, yes. The dictionary definition of adaptogen is: “any of various natural substances used in herbal medicine to normalize and regulate the systems of the body.” As you may have previously read here and all over the Internet—Hemp CBD works with the endocannabinoid system to achieve homeostasis.

Is Hemp CBD Safe?

The 2011 published research paper, “Safety and Side Effects of Cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa Constituent” was recently reviewed and confirmed that CBD is completely safe.

“An Update on Safety and Side Effects of Cannabidiol: A Review of Clinical Data and Relevant Animal Studies” published in Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research found, “In general, the often described favorable safety profile of CBD in humans was confirmed and extended by the reviewed research. The majority of studies were performed for treatment of epilepsy and psychotic disorders. Here, the most commonly reported side effects were tiredness, diarrhea, and changes of appetite/weight. In comparison with other drugs, used for the treatment of these medical conditions, CBD has a better side effect profile. This could improve patients’ compliance and adherence to treatment.”

In the update Iffland Kerstin and Grotenhermen Franjo went on to find, “At lower doses, it [CBD] has physiological effects that promote and maintain health, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotection effects. For instance, CBD is more effective than vitamin C and E as a neuroprotective antioxidant and can ameliorate skin conditions such as acne.”

Want a better source declaring the safety of CBD Oil? How about WHO (World Health Organization)? In December 2017 WHO’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence came out with a statement declaring that cannabidiol is not an addictive chemical and poses no threat to public health. WHO suggests that there’s no scientific basis for prohibiting the cannabidiol. Not only is CBD not addictive, but the report goes onto to show promising potential for addicts, “Another possible therapeutic application which has been investigated is the use of CBD to treat drug addiction. A recent systematic review concluded that there were a limited number of preclinical studies which suggest that CBD may have therapeutic properties on opioid, cocaine, and
psychostimulant addiction, and some preliminary data suggest that it may be beneficial in cannabis and tobacco addiction in humans,” from CANNABIDIOL (CBD) Pre-Review Report Agenda, Item 5.2 Expert Committee on Drug Dependence 6-10 November 2017.

Is Hemp CBD safe for kids?

Yes. Hemp CBD appears to be well tolerated by children. Research has been done for pediatric epilepsy, insomnia, and anxiety. Dr. Leslie Iversen of Oxford University states, “cannabis is an inherently safe drug, is safer than aspirin, and can be used over long periods of time without serious side effects.” However we caution that you should consult your child’s doctor before making any decisions about trying new supplements for your children. Most pediatric research has been done by giving 0.5 mg per pound of child per day, divided into 3 uses per day. The following is calculated using Essential Hemp CBD Oil 1000 mg/30 mL which contains 33.33 mg per mL. This based on research study usage alone and is by no means meant intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease.

10 lbs. = 5 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 1 drop 2x per day
20 lbs. = 10 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 2 drops 2x per day
30 lbs. = 15 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 3 drop 2x per day
40 lbs. = 20 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 4 drop 2x per day
50 lbs. = 25 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 5 drop 2x per day
60 lbs. = 30 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 6 drop 2x per day
70 lbs. = 35 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 7 drop 2x per day
80 lbs. = 40 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 8 drop 2x per day
90 lbs. = 45 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 9 drop 2x per day
100 lbs. = 50 mg per day ÷ 3x per day = 10 drop 2x per day

Are there side effects of taking Hemp CBD?

At the recommended usage there are not side effects. Taking too much Hemp CBD can cause temporary drowsiness.

Will Hemp CBD Oil Make Me High?

Hemp CBD Oil contains cannabidiol (CBD) without the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) of marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana come from the same species of plant Cannabis Sativa L., however that is where the similarities end. Hemp is cultivated for the seeds, hurd and fiber and has completely different functions and applications. Marijuana is cultivated for the flowering buds, which are the source of THC. Hemp is said to have 25,000 uses. Marijuana has 2 uses—medical and recreational use

The hemp plant contains a high level of cannabidiol (CBD) and only trace amounts of THC (regulated to 0.3%), while the marijuana plant is the opposite with a 5-30% THC content and 1-4% CBD content. The answer to your question about getting high on Hemp CBD Oils is that it would be a futile effort. Ministry of Hemp puts it this way, “Your lungs will fail before your brain attains any high from smoking industrial hemp.”

If I take prescription drugs, can I take Hemp CBD?

We recommend consulting your doctor prior to taking Ology Essentials Hemp CBD or any natural dietary supplement.

What is the recommended usage of Hemp CBD?

Most common usage is 1 mL (or 20 drops) twice per day is given for Hemp CBD Oil. We want you to find what works best for you and recommend starting at 10 drops twice per day. Adjust up or down until you find the best usage for you.

Does Can someone become allergic to Hemp?

Yes. Even though hemp is completely natural, all things on earth are possible allergens.

What is the boiling point of Hemp CBD?

The boiling point of CBD is 160-180°C and of THC is 157180°C.

Does the FDA regulate Hemp CBD Oil?

The FDA has not evaluated any of these products. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. The FDA regulates food, human and veterinary drugs, vaccines, medical devises, radiation-emitting electronic products, tobacco and cosmetics. It does not regulate supplements, however medical claims can transform a cosmetic or supplement into a drug which will result in a warning letter. While we greatly appreciate your antidotal stories, even a comment or review of one of our products that implies a medical use can transform our products from a supplement to a drug. For that reason commenting and reviews have been turned off on our website.

What is the story of US Patent on Cannabinoids?

The United States government holds a patent on cannabis plant compounds. See United States Patent: 6630507 Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants. United States Patent: 6630507 covers the potential use of non-psychoactive cannabinoids—chemical compounds found within the plant species cannabis sativa—to protect the brain from damage or degeneration caused by certain diseases, such as cirrhosis.
