Does CBD help with sleep? What CBD products would be good for sleep?
These are the questions we get asked quite a lot as a CBD company and for good reason! Struggling with sleep is not fun, and it can impact not just how you function during the day, but it can also have detrimental effects on your mental and physical health.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is commonly used for sleep as research has shown that it has a calming effect on the nervous system. CBD also helps balance serotonin levels which play a key role in regulating mood, digestion, healing and sleep! And when all of these systems are balanced and working as they should, your body is in a state of harmony. This homeostasis is essential for a good night’s sleep.
While CBD can help promote balance and homeostasis, it’s not a cure. We wish we had the cure for insomnia, but we always say that with a good routine and some CBD self-care, you should be dreaming sweet dreams in no time.
There are many factors that can impact your inability to fall asleep or stay asleep. This is why it is important to evaluate your daily and nightly routines. Below are three common factors that can interfere with healthy sleep:
➤ Anxiety + Stress – Did you know that our bodies respond to our stressful and dangerous situations by remaining awake? It might be time to learn new ways to help manage your stress like exercise, meditation and a little dose of CBD!
➤ Too Much Caffeine – Are you drinking too much coffee? This one can be a hard pill to swallow, because we know just how amazing coffee is. But might we suggest cutting out one or two of those delicious cups from your routine or balancing out the effects of caffeine and getting rid of those jitters with a few drops of CBD?
➤ Screen Time – Are you on your phone or watching TV late into the evening? Screens have been shown to suppress the production of melatonin, which can make it very difficult for many people to turn off their brains and fall asleep.
Try to create a nightly routine that lets your body know that you are winding down for sleep. Turn the TV off, put the phone down, make some tea, take a hot bath, meditate and snuggle in with a good book!
